Westport House, formerly known as “Forest House,” was built in 1961 and designed by architect Peter Kaffka. Located on a forested slope in West Vancouver, the mid-century modern home is surrounded by mature trees and views of the ocean. The renovation and structural upgrade modernized the home while preserving important original features, including the post-and-beam ceiling, brick fireplaces, and double front door. A large cantilevered deck and expansive sliding doors create a stronger connection between the indoor and outdoor spaces. The kitchen was expanded and updated with a hidden pantry for clean, practical storage. Interior spaces were reconfigured to improve flow and functionality, while a new custom U-shaped wood staircase creates a more open and connected layout. A private guest suite was also added with its own exterior entrance. The interior combines simple, refined materials with details that reflect the home’s mid-century character. Terracotta tiles, wood paneling, and warm lighting add warmth while complementing the original architecture. The result is a modern, comfortable home that respects its history while creating a fresh and timeless living environment.
